Microsoft Gaming Q1 — Game Pass Numbers and What They Signal
Microsoft does not break out Game Pass subscriber numbers cleanly, but Q1 2026 disclosures combined with channel checks let us back into the figures.
Our estimate puts Game Pass at roughly 38M paid subscribers across all SKUs as of end-Q1. ARPU has risen modestly to about $11.40 per month, driven by the Premium tier price uplift and a slight mix-shift toward annual prepayments. The combined ARR run-rate is in the $5.2B range.
What is meaningful is the trajectory. Twelve months ago, the consensus on Game Pass was that subscriber growth had stalled and ARPU was the only lever left. Both numbers are growing again. Activision integration is now contributing positively to the mix, and the planned tier rationalization later this year should add another modest uplift.
38M subs, $5.2B ARR, ARPU climbing — Game Pass is finally past the post-Activision integration drag and back to growth.
