Best Mechanical Keyboards Under $150 in 2026
Hot-swap, gasket-mount and decent stock keycaps are now the table stakes for sub-$150 mechanical keyboards. Three boards stand out for very different reasons.
Top of the list is the Keychron V6 Max at $134. Hot-swappable, gasket-mounted, full-size with knob, and a stable QMK/VIA firmware that opens up custom layers without a learning curve. The stock Gateron Jupiter switches are good enough that most buyers will not feel pressed to swap.
The Akko 3098B at $99 is the best value pick. Gasket mount on a 96% layout, surprisingly well-tuned stabilizers out of the box, and PBT keycaps that look the part. The trade-off is a less polished software stack.
For 60% lovers, the Mode SonnetSE Mini at $129 finally hits this price tier with the build quality previously reserved for $250+ customs. The aluminum case has weight, the foam stack is properly tuned, and the included keycaps are a real upgrade over the cheap ABS sets that ruin most budget keyboards.
Keychron V6 Max for full-size, Akko 3098B for value, Mode SonnetSE Mini for compact builds. All three under $150, all three better than the typical $200 board from two years ago.
