Overwatch Grand Finals Preview — The Story Lines That Matter
OWCS Grand Finals weekend kicks off May 3 with four very different storylines pointing in four different directions.
Storyline one: T1 vs Crazy Raccoon would be the first Korean grand final in three years, and on current form is the most likely matchup. Storyline two: NRG’s NA-vs-everyone narrative finally has a path back through the lower bracket if they hold form.
Storyline three: a new Spitfire-shaped European team has slipped quietly into the top four after a roster shuffle that looked panicked at the time. Their map pool is the most flexible in the field, which is the kind of thing that wins double-elimination brackets.
Storyline four — and the one most worth watching — is the patch impact. Blizzard’s 4.13 patch lands the week before finals, and three hero buffs in particular look format-defining for the high-mobility playstyles two of the top teams rely on.
T1 vs Crazy Raccoon is the headline. The mid-week patch is the wild card.
