Elgato Stream Deck XL+ — First Impressions From a Two-Week Test
Elgato’s flagship Stream Deck refresh adds two physical dials and a 32-key layout — and the result is the first Stream Deck that genuinely changes how you stream.
The two T-bar dials sit above the main key grid and can be configured per-profile. The default mappings cover scene blending, mic gain, music ducking and chat scroll-back. After two weeks of muscle memory, the dials are the feature you instantly miss when you go back to a regular Stream Deck.
The 32-key XL+ grid feels like a lot at first, but you grow into it fast. We ended up using one column for scene presets, two for source toggles, one for OBS overlays, and the bottom row for chat moderation actions. The displays are sharp enough to use small custom icons without losing readability.
The price is the asterisk. At $349, the XL+ is a real investment, and you should only consider it if you are streaming twice a week or more. For weekend streamers, the original XL or even the MK.2 still does the job.
The dials are the killer feature, full stop. If you stream consistently, the XL+ is the new ceiling for hardware. If you stream occasionally, save the money.
