Stardew Valley 2.0 Just Reinvented Co-op Farming

By The Frag Hub Desk · April 25, 2026

ConcernedApe’s 2.0 update for Stardew Valley landed quietly this month and contains the biggest co-op overhaul in the game’s history.

Persistent shared farms now support up to eight players, which is double the previous cap. Visiting other players’ farms uses a new fast-travel hub, and shared festivals support proper multi-instance scheduling so different time zones can actually meet.

The hidden upgrade is the modding API. Stardew’s community modders now have a stable persistent-multiplayer surface to build against, which means the game’s already enormous mod ecosystem can finally extend into co-op without the workarounds. The first wave of compatible mods landed within hours of the update.

For a one-person studio operating in genuinely indie scope, the scale of this update is hard to comprehend. ConcernedApe has been the most reliable post-launch developer in indie PC gaming for ten years running.

The Hub Take

Stardew at 8-player co-op with a stable mod API is a meaningfully bigger game. The fact that it cost zero dollars is just the cherry on top.
